World Cup
I love soccer, so the next month is the high light of the year.
The Netherlands is my 2nd team, by last name - Veltmeyer.
I watched them smash Spain on Saturday morning.

There was one moment that I thought was great.
It was straight after van Persie master class in how to score a header.
After his goal he ran straight to his coach van Gaal who was waiting excitingly to give him a high 5.

Usually after someone scores they celebrate with the corner flag and then get swamped by their team mates.

There was something real nice about a player and coach celebrating together.
They must have a bond, a trust, a relationship.

If you are a leader of a team, what is your relationship like with that team?

After they have finished a kids talk do they run to you waiting excitingly to give them a high 5.
After they have prayed do they run to you waiting excitingly to give them a high 5.
After they have served in some way do they run to you waiting excitingly to give them a high 5.

What is your relationship like with the people you serve with?

If you were back at the start
I've been asking older mates in ministry a question.
"What do you know now, that would have been helpful to know when you started ministry."

I'm only in my 6th year of full time paid ministry and I think for me, I would say.
Look after yourself and look after your family.

I was reminded of this the other day.
I was out running at lunch (looking after myself physically) and listening to SMBC Principals Hour (looking after myself spiritually).
While I was running I saw two mates in ministry.

One was with his son and a group of boys from his class on an excursion in town.
The other was pushing his daughters on their bikes along a running/ bike path.
It was encouraging to see.

How would you answer this question?

And are you living it now?
