Holiday Event - Soccer Clinic

I love Jesus and soccer, these two passions of mine came together in a Soccer Clinic holiday event, Monday and Tuesday of week 2 of the school holidays at a local primary school in Hobart. 

It was for grades 3-6, with some younger people also coming along. Our leaders were from different local churches in Hobart.

Parents said that they were looking for options, options that don't cost a lot of money.

The children had a great time and are keen for next year.

I think there is a lot of value in thinking through how children's ministry at your church can use the school holidays well.

Holiday events can kick start your ministry for next term.

Dove tailing

Your vision needs to dove tail to the purpose.

This is a good way to check your vision.

How does it line up with the purpose (which always stays the same).

It is a ministry that is making disciples

What is real life?

It is a life lived as a disciple

How does your vision dove tail with the purpose?

Purpose - Make Disciples

If I was asked the question, “Why does this ministry exist?”

I would say, “To make disciples”

I would suggest, this is the answer to every question directed at your ministry.

In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus says to his disciples

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

We need to be telling people to follow Jesus, put their trust in his death and resurrection and live for him.

This is what disciple making is.
